Beekeepers

We have many contracts available. Let us know if your looking to put your bees somewhere. Send us an email at beeway@gmail.com or us the Contact Us page.

Last year many keepers lost their bees to mites. Because of that, they could not fulfill their contracts and lost them. This 2007 year, we have been getting many beekeepers calling us to find out if we could rent their bees or know someone that wants to rent it. Fortunately, we have been able to help most of them out.

Beekeeping Advice

Leonid Zaytsev has over 20+ years experience working with bees. If you call him, you might end up talking about bees all day long. Its a subject that will never bore him. If you are a beekeeper who is just starting out and is looking for some advice on what to do next with you bees, give Leonid a call. If you are looking for him to come over and take a look at your hives, the charge is $50 an hour.

Our bees are so strong that they don't fit in the boxes! Check out that huge swarm. Bees swarm because they are so large that they don't fit in the box.

California Pollination:

Bees Shortage Impacts California: Link

Almond Growers facing Bee Crisis: Link

Pollination in California is always exciting. A couple of years ago 90% of all bees died in California because of mites. For us, we only lost 10% because we have been feeding and giving the proper medicine to the bees. Because there was a shortage of bees, beekeepers and brokers got bees from all over the world, a lot from Australia, Florida, and many other places. That year the prices for bees were skyrocketing because there was such a high demand for pollination. Farmers were paying beekeepers from Florida all of the money upfront before they even loaded the trucks. But because they where so far away, many of the bees died before even arriving at the orchards.

Since so little of our bees died, we rented out all of our bees plus any more that we could find or rent from other hobby beekeepers. That was a good year for us. The next year, the beekeepers that lost their 90% of the bees the year before, they recouped their loss and bought bees and split them. All of the sudden there where so many bees in California, that prices dropped dramatically. The beekeepers from other states sent in their bees, also the beekeepers from other countries. So that year, there was double the amount of bees that was needed. We remember driving down the road and seeing a semi truck on the side of the road. It was full of bees hives and there was a large sign that said, "Rent Me". We could not help but laugh. Because our business and services were very good last year, we kept all of our contracts and it was still a good year.  To this day, beekeepers call us to ask what we do to keep our bees alive from mites, fireants and beetles. That is a trade secret that we will have to keep from getting out.

We are currently looking for more Almond and Orange Orchards for pollination.
